Activate your licence

After you buy, you get an email with your licence key. Open NotchBuddy, paste the key when it asks, and you're done. If the email hasn't arrived after a few minutes, check your spam folder, then write to support@notchbuddy.app with your order number.

Move to a new Mac

A licence works on one Mac at a time. To move it, open Settings in NotchBuddy on the old Mac and choose Deactivate this Mac, then paste your key on the new one. Lost the old Mac? Email us and we'll reset it.

Using it offline

NotchBuddy checks your licence with notchbuddy.app every few days when you're online. Offline it keeps working for up to 30 days; after that it asks you to connect once. Only a code for your Mac and your key are sent, never anything you write or copy.

Opening NotchBuddy

• Hover the notch (or the pill at the top centre on Macs without a notch) to open the panel.
• Press ⌃⌥Space from any app.
• Click the pet on Home to change pets and themes.

Permissions

• Calendar: asked the first time you open the Calendar tool. Events are read-only and stay on your Mac.
• Music and Spotify: asked the first time you use Now Playing, so NotchBuddy can show the track and play/pause.

You can change either later in System Settings → Privacy & Security.

Sounds

Pets make a quiet sound a few times an hour at most, never during focus sessions, while music plays, or while they sleep. Turn sounds off or down in the Pets screen or in Settings.

Uninstall

Quit NotchBuddy from its menu, then drag it from Applications to the Bin. Your notes and settings are in ~/Library/Application Support/NotchBuddy if you want to remove them too.
