Direct edition and the Mac App Store
The direct edition is $10 once, for one Mac, sold on this site through Dodo Payments. That edition has no trial: you buy first, then get a licence key. The Mac App Store edition is a separate download and a separate purchase, sold through the Mac App Store: the app is free to install there and comes with a 3-day trial of everything, then a one-time unlock is $19.99. That price includes Apple's commission, which the direct edition does not pay. Buying one does not unlock the other.
How buying works
- Pay at checkout. Our payment partner, Dodo Payments, handles the payment, tax and your receipt.
- Your licence key appears right away on the NotchBuddy download page you land on, and Dodo Payments emails it to you with your receipt. It's always in your customer portal too.
- Download NotchBuddy, open it, paste the key, and your pet moves in.
One key, one Mac. Each licence key works on one Mac only. It won't activate on a second Mac and can't be shared, so for another Mac you buy another licence. Getting a new Mac? Deactivate the old one and use the same key on the new one.
Where do I find my licence key?
Right after you pay, on the download page you land on, and in the order email from Dodo Payments. After that, any time in your customer portal: sign in with the email you bought with. Bought before 6 October 2026? Your key is in your Polar customer portal. Can't find it? Check spam, then email support@notchbuddy.app with your order number.
Can I use one key on two Macs?
No. Each key works on one Mac only, and it can't be shared with anyone else. For a second Mac, buy a second licence. Moving to a new Mac is fine: in NotchBuddy go to Settings → Licence → Deactivate this Mac, then enter the same key on the new Mac.
What if it isn't for me?
You get a 14-day refund: buy it, live with it for two weeks, and if it's not for you, email support@notchbuddy.app and you get your money back.

Which currencies can I pay in?
It's $10 in every country, set in US dollars. Checkout can show the price in your own currency, or you can pay in dollars. Cards work from almost every country, and checkout also offers local options such as UPI in India.
Do I need to pay for updates?
No. Every 1.x update is free. If there's ever a 2.0 that's a big leap, it may be a paid upgrade, and 1.x keeps working.
Do you offer invoices for companies?
Yes. The receipt from checkout works as an invoice, issued in the name of Approtic Solutions Private Limited. If you need your company name or tax ID on it, email support@notchbuddy.app after you buy.
